When to schedule it

If any of these is happening, your ducts are due.

National guidelines assume a temperate climate. Las Cruces is not that. The dust load, the pollen seasons, and the dry winters all push duct intervals shorter than a homeowner expects.

Visible dust around vents and registers

The grille is downstream of everything. If it's collecting dust faster than the rest of the room, the supply side is loaded.

Musty or sour odor when the system runs

Almost always microbial growth in the coil pan or near a leaky return. Cleaning + treatment fixes it.

Recent renovation or new flooring

Drywall dust and flooring particulates settle in the ductwork for months. Single highest-yield reason to schedule a cleaning.

Pets in the home

Dander, hair, and the dust they track in. Pet households generally need cleaning every 3 years instead of 5.

Worsening allergies indoors

Recirculating dust, pollen, and microbial particles aggravate respiratory symptoms. Clean ducts plus a properly sized filter help measurably.

Vermin or insect activity

Mice, roaches, or wasps in the ductwork are a sealing problem and a hygiene problem. We clean and seal in the same visit.

What's included

Every duct cleaning visit.

A

Pre-clean inspection

Visual and tool-assisted inspection of every accessible run. We document what we find so the cost makes sense before we start.

B

High-power vacuum extraction

Negative-pressure extraction at the air handler pulls debris out through the system rather than blowing it into the rooms.

C

Brush agitation

Rotating brushes break loose stubborn buildup the vacuum alone won't lift. Compressed-air clearing where access is tight.

D

Coil & blower attention

The blower wheel and evaporator coil are where dust accumulates worst. Both get cleaned as part of the visit.

E

Optional antimicrobial treatment

Where mold or microbial growth is documented, we apply an EPA-registered treatment. We don't sell it by default.

F

Post-clean verification

Final inspection and a before/after report with photos. The system has to be visibly clean and functioning correctly before we leave.

How a duct cleaning goes

From walkthrough to verified-clean system.

1

Inspect.

Visual and camera inspection. Existing condition documented, scope confirmed in writing before any work begins.

2

Extract.

High-power vacuum at the air handler. Brush agitation through every accessible run. Compressed air for tight transitions and boots.

3

Clean components.

Vents, registers, blower wheel, and evaporator coil cleaned. Filters replaced. Antimicrobial applied where indicated.

4

Verify.

Post-cleaning inspection. Before/after photos. The system has to be clean and the ducts have to be sealed before we close out the call.

Frequently asked

Air duct cleaning questions, answered.

How often should air ducts be cleaned in Las Cruces?

Most Las Cruces homes benefit from a duct cleaning every 3 to 5 years. The Southwestern New Mexico dust load is heavier than what national guidance assumes. Pet households, recently-renovated homes, and homes with visible dust at the registers usually need cleaning closer to the 3-year mark. Newer, sealed homes without pets can stretch toward 5.

What's actually included in a cleaning?

Inspection of the duct system, high-powered vacuum extraction at the air handler, brush agitation through accessible runs, compressed-air clearing where needed, vent and register cleaning, blower wheel and evaporator coil cleaning, optional antimicrobial treatment, sealing of any leaks found, and a post-cleaning inspection. Photos before and after stay with you.

Will duct cleaning lower my energy bill?

On its own, modestly. The bigger savings come from pairing duct cleaning with duct sealing and proper attic insulation, which together attack the actual energy-loss path. The clearer wins from cleaning alone are air quality, allergy symptom reduction, and longer system life because the coil and blower aren't fighting through accumulated dust.

Do you treat mold and bacteria in the ducts?

Yes, where it's actually warranted. After cleaning, we can apply an EPA-registered antimicrobial treatment to inhibit mold and bacterial growth. We tell you on site whether your system needs it, we don't include treatment by default and we don't push it as an upsell.

How long does the cleaning take?

Most single-system homes are a 3 to 5 hour job. Larger homes, multi-zone systems, or homes that haven't been cleaned in 8+ years can run a full day. We give you a written timeline before we start.

Should I do duct sealing too?

Often yes, especially in Las Cruces where attic ducts run through 140 to 150°F summer attics. Cleaning alone improves air quality. Cleaning plus sealing improves air quality, energy use, and dust accumulation rate going forward. We can do both in one visit if scope allows.
